Summary
GOSLING promotes cycling tourism as a healthy, inclusive, and sustainable way to explore the Romanian–Hungarian border region. The project develops the first five thematic cross-border cycling routes, connecting natural landscapes, cultural attractions, and recreational spaces on both sides of the border.
By combining infrastructure development, training, and community engagement, GOSLING creates a connected network that encourages people of all ages and abilities to enjoy cycling and discover the shared heritage of the region. The initiative highlights cycling not only as a leisure activity but also as a bridge between communities and a driver of eco-friendly tourism.
Project Aim
To improve cross-border cycling infrastructure and services by developing thematic routes, creating support facilities, and promoting cycling as an accessible, inclusive, and environmentally responsible form of tourism.
Key Activities & Results
🔹 Five Cross-Border Cycling Routes: Creation of the first thematic cycling trails across the ROHU border area, linking natural, cultural, and recreational sites.
🔹 Infrastructure for Cyclists – Fârdea: Creation of a bike rental centre and a Euroregional training centre and camp for mountain bike (MTB) cyclists, including facilities adapted for children with disabilities (e.g., hearing impairments).
🔹 Cross-Border Learning and Training:: Three training sessions for service providers and a five-day cycling camp for children with disabilities to promote inclusion and build practical skills.
🔹 Education & Awareness: Publication of a bicycle riding guide for children and creation of interactive learning tools - a ROHU cross-border board game and an escape room on cycling, tourism, and cooperation themes.
🔹 Promotion & Innovation: A database of safe cycling routes, resting points, service providers, and tourist attractions; information boards, wayfinding panels, printed materials, web content, and short videos.
🔹 Media & Outreach Campaign: A cross-border promotional event featuring public figures and children, covered by mass media, to present the ROHU border area as a single tourism destination.
🔹 Best Practices & Knowledge Sharing: Five case studies of European cross-border cycling routes serve as inspiration for improving regional cycling infrastructure and services.

Conclusion
By linking communities, landscapes, and traditions through cycling, GOSLING transforms the Romanian–Hungarian border area into a vibrant and sustainable tourism destination. The project’s new routes, facilities, and educational tools are expected to attract around 1,000 annual visitors, while partners will continue to cooperate after project completion to expand the cycling network, organise tourism and cycling events each year, and promote inclusive outdoor activities for all.
Through long-term cooperation, GOSLING fosters a culture of healthy living, environmental awareness, and friendship across borders, encouraging everyone to explore the region freely and sustainably.
