Summary

COMMUNITIES THROUGH ART brings together Hungarian and Romanian communities through creativity, film, and urban art. Two NGOs, Anthropolis (Hungary) and Citizenit (Romania), join forces to create murals, organise film festivals, VR events, and public discussions that connect people across borders in innovative ways. By combining art, technology, and community participation, the project builds trust, encourages cooperation, and leaves behind lasting cultural footprints, such as murals, films, and stronger networks.

Project Aim

The project aims to strengthen trust and cooperation between Hungarian and Romanian citizens by using art and culture as bridges for dialogue, creativity, and sustainable community building.

Objectives

✅ Create opportunities for people to meet and cooperate through artistic activities
✅ Use murals, VR, film, and music as innovative cultural tools to connect communities
✅ Support young talents and students through learning and practice
✅ Enhance intercultural dialogue and re-imagine public spaces with community involvement
✅ Build long-term cross-border cultural partnerships that continue after the project ends

Key Activities & Results

🔹 Murals Across Borders – A mural workshop and painting in Szeged with 32 participants and a large cross-border mural in central Arad, co-created by Hungarian and Romanian artists and students, celebrated with an inauguration event for 450 people.
🔹 Film & VR Experiences – A film festival in Szeged with VR screenings, documentaries, and music events (200 participants); VR events in Debrecen and Timișoara (100 participants); and documentary screenings with public discussions in both countries (200 participants).
🔹 Educational Opportunities – A university course for 20 art students, offering hands-on training and creative cooperation.
🔹 Capacity Building for VR Culture – Purchase of 10 VR equipment sets, training for 4 technicians, and securing rights and subtitles for 3 VR films and 4 documentaries.
🔹 Community Engagement – Over 1,000 participants involved directly during the project and at least 400 more are expected to engage afterwards through the networks created.

By combining art, film, and digital innovation, COMMUNITIES THROUGH ART turns everyday spaces into hubs of creativity and dialogue, leaving behind not just cultural experiences, but stronger and more connected cross-border communities.
