Summary

ACROSS tackles a vital cross-border issue by boosting road safety education among children aged 6–13 in Bihor (Romania), Hajdú-Bihar, and Békés counties (Hungary). Combining traditional teaching methods with cutting-edge digital technology, the project delivers interactive road safety workshops, immersive digital games, and simulator-based demonstrations. By developing mobile safety labs and upgraded educational tools, ACROSS creates a safer, more aware new generation across borders.

Project Aim

The project aims to bridge the educational gap in road safety by equipping children with practical, interactive knowledge, fostering safer behaviours from an early age through innovative, cross-border cooperation.

Objectives

✅ Improve road safety education with upgraded digital tools and interactive experiences
✅ Conduct extensive prevention campaigns targeting 9,000 children aged 6–13
✅ Strengthen cross-border cooperation among road safety educators and organisations
✅ Develop a joint action plan for future cross-border safety initiatives
✅ Promote environmentally friendly and safe driving habits among the youngest road users

Key Activities & Results

🔹 Mobile Road Safety Lab – Creation and deployment of a mobile lab equipped with immersive technologies and a mobile seatbelt simulator tailored for children.
🔹 Extensive Road Safety Workshops – Workshops organized in Hungary and Romania for more than 9,000 children aged 6–13, including joint cross-border sessions.
🔹 Joint Road Safety Action Plan – Development of a cross-border strategy for enhancing road safety education over the next 5 years in Bihor and Hajdú-Bihar counties.
🔹 Awareness Raising – Events addressing not only road safety but also safe, drug-free, and eco-friendly driving behaviors among schoolchildren.
🔹 Stronger Cross-Border Cooperation – Collaboration between Romanian and Hungarian partners to share best practices, tools, and educational methods.
