Summary
ENERGY promotes renewable energy use and the no-waste principle across the Romania–Hungary border by improving public and community buildings and raising awareness among diverse target groups. The project focuses on six different types of buildings - ranging from municipal offices and kindergartens to schools, medical facilities, kitchens, and NGO centres - each with distinct energy-use patterns.
By combining building rehabilitation works with education and behavioural change, the project demonstrates how energy efficiency and renewable solutions can be adapted to different institutional contexts in Asotthalom and Timișoara.
Project Aim
To promote renewable energy and energy efficiency by upgrading institutional buildings and raising awareness on no-waste energy use among public authorities, educational institutions, NGOs, and local communities.
Objectives
✅ Improve energy efficiency and renewable energy use in public and community buildings
✅ Reduce energy waste through technical upgrades and smart solutions
✅ Raise awareness among employees, pupils, NGOs, and citizens on no-waste energy principles
✅ Develop a joint study proposing adaptable renewable energy and energy efficiency strategies
Key Activities & Results
Energy Improvements in Asotthalom (HU) – Upgrading 3 municipal buildings (mayor’s office, kindergarten, medical offices) with solar panels and new heat pump systems, and improving 1 communal building (Tambura restaurant) through the installation of solar panels.
🔹 Energy Efficiency Improvements in Timișoara (RO) – Upgrading 1 school building (Bartok Bela Theoretical High School) with solar panels, window replacement, LED lighting, and motion-sensor lighting, and improving 1 NGO building (Bastion Centre) with an upgraded heating system, upgraded lighting system, no-waste water taps, and solar panels.
🔹 Awareness-Raising Actions – Organisation of 4 local and 6 joint events engaging public institution employees in Asotthalom, pupils in Timișoara, and NGOs, and promoting renewable energy use, energy efficiency, and the no-waste energy principle.
🔹 Educational & Creative Initiatives – Implementation of school-based no-waste learning groups, NGO-led reuse of unused promotional materials into reusable items, and behaviour-change campaigns within public institutions.
🔹 Joint Study – Preparation of 1 joint (Romanian–Hungarian) study on renewable energy challenges, energy efficiency solutions, and behaviour-change approaches, published on the project website and promoted during project events.
By combining concrete energy investments with awareness and behaviour change, ENERGY supports a cleaner, more efficient, and more sustainable cross-border future.
