Summary
ENERGY promotes energy efficiency and renewable energy use in the Romania–Hungary border region by improving six public and community buildings with different functions, including municipal offices, schools, kindergartens, medical facilities, kitchens, and NGO centres.
The project combines building rehabilitation measures (e.g. insulation, heating system upgrades, heat pumps, LED lighting, motion sensors, and photovoltaic systems) with awareness-raising and behavioural change activities targeting municipalities, schools, NGOs, and public institutions.
A joint study and communication activities support knowledge transfer and promote energy-efficient practices and renewable energy adoption across different sectors.
Project Aim
To promote renewable energy and energy efficiency by upgrading institutional buildings and raising awareness on no-waste energy use among public authorities, educational institutions, NGOs, and local communities.
Objectives
✅ Improve energy efficiency and renewable energy use in public and community buildings
✅ Reduce energy waste through technical upgrades and smart solutions
✅ Raise awareness among employees, pupils, NGOs, and citizens on no-waste energy principles
✅ Develop a joint study proposing adaptable renewable energy and energy efficiency strategies
Key Activities & Results
🔹Energy improvements in Asotthalom (HU) – 3 municipal buildings (mayor’s office, kindergarten, medical offices) upgraded with solar panels and heat pump systems, plus 1 communal building (Tambura restaurant) equipped with solar panels.
🔹 Energy efficiency upgrades in Timișoara (RO) – 1 school building improved with solar panels, window replacement, LED lighting, and motion sensors; 1 NGO centre (Bastion) upgraded with heating and lighting systems, solar panels, and no-waste water taps.
🔹 Awareness-raising activities – 4 local and 6 joint events targeting public institutions, pupils, and NGOs to promote renewable energy, energy efficiency, and no-waste principles.
🔹 Behavioural and educational actions – School no-waste learning groups, NGO reuse of promotional materials into reusable items, and municipality-led behavioural change initiatives.
🔹 Joint study – 1 bilingual (RO–HU) study on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and behavioural change, published and promoted during project events.
By combining concrete energy investments with awareness and behaviour change, ENERGY supports a cleaner, more efficient, and more sustainable cross-border future.
