Hungarian and Romanian secondary school students are participating in the youngSTER programme to learn the fundamentals of social entrepreneurship through interactive trainings, mentoring sessions and cross-border cooperation activities organised within the Interreg VI-A Romania–Hungary Programme. The initiative targets young people aged 14–18 and aims to encourage innovative thinking, active citizenship and community engagement.
During the activities, students work in teams, analyse real-life community challenges and develop ideas for socially responsible enterprises that could create positive local impact. The programme combines practical learning methods with international cooperation, allowing participants to improve their communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills while gaining entrepreneurial experience.
“Social entrepreneurship helps young people understand that business ideas can also serve communities and social goals. Through youngSTER, students gain practical knowledge, confidence and motivation to become active changemakers,” said representatives of Fiatalok Kulturális Szövetsége. The project also strengthens long-term cooperation between Hungarian and Romanian youth and promotes creativity, inclusion and innovation in the border region.
Secondary school students from Hungary and Romania are invited to join the international youngSTER programme by forming 2–5 member teams and developing innovative social enterprise ideas that can create positive impact in their local communities. The initiative is implemented within the Interreg VI-A Romania–Hungary Programme and offers young participants the opportunity to take part in trainings, mentoring activities and cross-border cooperation experiences during 2026.
The programme aims to strengthen entrepreneurial thinking, social responsibility and active citizenship among young people aged 14–18. Participants will work together with experienced mentors and trainers to transform their ideas into realistic social enterprise concepts while improving their communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills. The best initiatives will also be presented during international project activities and networking events organised by the project partners.
“We believe that young people are not only the future, but already active shapers of their communities today. Through youngSTER, students can gain practical experience, confidence and international connections while working on ideas that matter to them,” said Fiatalok Kulturális Szövetsége representatives. The project also contributes to strengthening long-term cooperation between young people and organisations from both sides of the border while promoting inclusion, creativity and social innovation.
