The first Monitoring Committee Meeting of the Interreg V-A Romania-Hungary Programme

The first Monitoring Committee meeting of the Interreg V-A Romania-Hungary Programme, managed by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Administration (MRDPA), as Managing Authority, was held in Békéscsaba, Hungary, on May 26, 2016.

The topics discussed were mainly related to the establishment and organization of the Monitoring Committee as the main decision making structure of the Programme and to the Technical Assistance (TA) financial allocations for the entire programming period. The discussions on these topics resulted in the approval of the Rules of Procedure of the Monitoring Committee and of the above mentioned TA financial allocations.

The Communication Strategy of the Interreg V-A Romania-Hungary Programme and the Visual Identity Manual, were also approved during the meeting. In addition, the members of the Monitoring Committee adopted the Annual Implementation Report (AIR) of the Programme for the year 2015.

Representatives of national, regional and local authorities and bodies, from both Member States participating in the Programme, of the European Commission, of the Audit Authority and of the Managing Authority within MRDPA attended the meeting.

Additional information

The Interreg V-A Romania-Hungary Programme, for which the MRDPA acts as Managing Authority, has been approved by the European Commission on December 9, 2015.

Having a total budget of 231.8 million EUR (out of which 189.1 million EUR represents non-refundable support from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)), the Programme aims at financing cross-border cooperation initiatives, implemented in Satu Mare, Bihor, Arad and Timiş counties, on the Romanian side of the border and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg, Hajdú-Bihar, Békés and Csongrád counties, on the Hungarian side.

The Programme’s main objective aims at financing integrated operations, with a strong cross-border and strategic impact, in order to better exploit the common potential and jointly address the challenges in the eligible area.
