The Monitoring Committee of the Interreg V-A Romania-Hungary Programme met online, on February 3rd 2023, to discuss important implementation-related aspects.
The main topics on the Agenda concerned ROHU Programme’s performance at closure. In this context, the MC was called to decide upon the future commitment of unused ERDF and the related Cooperation Programme’s modification.
The Head of the Joint Secretariat delivered a short presentation, providing relevant information on the premises leading to the availability of ERDF funds at Programme level, the procedural steps, legal background and rationale for the further use of such funds and the proposed funding scenario. The presentation also included brief descriptions of the Additional Funding Requests submitted by the relevant strategic projects. Based on the information provided and in compliance with the provisions of the Methodology on how to use available ERDF in the context of Interreg V-A Romania-Hungary Programme previously approved by the Monitoring Committee, and the approach agreed upon in the national delegations, the Monitoring Committee decided to award additional funding to ROHU flagship projects, ensuring thus the attainment of their outstanding achievements in the border area.
Reallocation of ERDF will result in a modified Cooperation Programme, to be further approved by the European Commission as well.
The meeting benefited from the presence of the European Commission’s representative, who, along with MA, NA and JS, confirmed their full support, for a smooth and successful implementation of the projects and Programme.
